CONFRONTING SEX TRAFFICKING

Event Reflection by Dr. Estera Borcsa, Vice Chair of Programming

On April 26, 2025, GlobalWE proudly convened a transformative and deeply moving virtual panel titled Confronting Sex Trafficking Globally. As Vice Chair of Programming, I had the profound honor of supporting and shaping this vital conversation alongside fellow advocates, policy leaders, and survivor voices.

This event brought together a global coalition of experts and change agents dedicated to ending one of the most pressing human rights violations of our time. Together, we examined the root causes of sex trafficking, including systemic inequities, cultural stigma, and the silence that allows exploitation to persist.

Our panelists offered actionable strategies for prevention, intervention, and sustainable empowerment of survivors. More than just sharing statistics, this panel was a powerful call to action. We spotlighted the resilience of those who have survived, the dedication of those advocating on the frontlines, and the collective responsibility we all share in dismantling structures of exploitation.

As I reflected on the success of the event, I was reminded that change happens when informed hearts take bold action. We witnessed a vibrant global audience deeply engaged, asking questions, sharing resources, and committing to do more. Whether through policy reform, education, or community engagement, each attendee left with the clear message: Your voice matters. Your action counts. Together, we are the solution.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to our extraordinary panelists, attendees, and organizing team for making this conversation not just possible, but powerful. The momentum does not end here. At GlobalWE, we remain committed to amplifying the stories that matter and creating platforms for lasting change.
